Kuda Kandu * *

The channel has a narrow entrance and in the middle of the entrance is a mount of coral rising to 25 metres from the sandy bottom at 30 metres. The channel is not very intersting and with an ingoing current divers may prefer to begin their dive 200 metres inside the channel on the northern side. Kuda Kandu - Sketch.JPG (37035 bytes)They will then drift into a bend int he reef where there is a beautiful coral garden. A ridge at 15 metres continues into the channel. At this bend, the reef widens into a bed of coral which covers the reef from 20 metres to the surface. The bend is more protected from the stronger currents and when the sea is calm, the radiant corals are mirrored of the surface of the water in a Kaleidosocope of shapes and colours. This is an ideal location for photographers.

Diving Hints: The best place for diving is the coral bend and it is suitable for divers and snorkellers.

On the east side of Kashavaru Falhu is Lhittolhu Kandu. Divers often call this site "Caravar Bodu". It is a wide channel and the entrance is around 40 metres. It has pretty coral slopes with plenty of reef fish. Between Maafunkoa Falhu and Fushi Falhu is a site called "Caravar Ecola". It is more narrow than Caravara Bodu and has an entrance of 40 metres with caves in the middle of the entrance. The channel also has pretty coral slopes.
