Asdu Sun island resort of maldives islands

Asdu Sun Island is situated in the North of North Kaafu (Male') Atoll. Due to the management's operational style of this hidden jewel, it's not been operated very well.

Yes! "Asdu" has only 30 rooms, a single Bar, a Reception and a Restaurant which are simple and natural. And the islands has NO modern facilities available, not even a coffee shop and neither a tennis court or a swimming pool. Therefore the staffs are minimized. All the staffs drop a hand to sweep around the islands and the staffs go for fishing, where you may join along with them, and the barmen handles all the administrative work. Thus, some of our guests consider that the management is too loose and others consider that they could enjoy a hassle free holiday.

As per our statistics, about 60% are Italians and Austrians and the balance 40% is mostly from Swiss and Spanish. But, indeed anyone who fits in is always welcome to Asdu. Usually the guests are repeaters, old friends, new friends and friends of friends. As you can See from the left side picture, Asdu is a kind of place where everybody goes to the jetty to welcome his or her newfound friends.

The rooms are just the same with a bit higher roof and larger than most of the other resort islands. Rooms include telephones, but modern amenities such as hot & cold water, air-conditioning and hairdryer are not included. The latticed space below the roof and the slatted windows keep the sun out but let the breeze through.

Naturally in Maldives the islands inside the Atolls have smaller lagoons and better beaches than those on the outside, and "Asdu Sun Island" is no exception. Due to the groynes, which are aimed to hold the sand of the beaches, the beaches are devided - where you may get your private beach area. We recommend "Asdu Sun Island" as a snorkeling island, since the reef is very close-by to the shore line.

maldives_islands_resorts_asdu_watersports_kayaks.jpg (12238 bytes) The dive-center does not have a diver's-rythm, since the island is a lay-back, leisure, tropical resort. And the dive-rates are a bit on the higher side. Still close-by has extremely good dive sites, including thila's and channels. Nevertheless the neighbour (MEERU Island) will fulfill a diver's dream.

Again, this island is not for water sports lover's. The only available water sports in here are canoe's and windsurf; where canoes are free - but you have to pay for the windsurf, where the rates are reasonable.

The three meals are set. We may not say that it's gourmet stuff, but still it is good, tasty and a lot of fresh fish caught on the same day are available.
