BOLIFUSHI - Guest Comments

It will take about 30 minutes by Speed Boat or 70 minutes by Dhoani to visit Bolifushi, which is alone in the North-East corner of South Male' Atoll, gaining the sense of being out on the edge. Having a room capacity of 43, most of them are in one block in the middle, so the resort never appears to be too built up.

In the block of rooms, 16 rooms are above and 16 are below, this could be the only weakness of Bolifushi. All the rooms are  clean, bright and larger than what most of HelloMaldives guests have been expected. Good fittings, a telephone, hot and fresh water are available in each room. There are only 11 beach rooms, which are made of coral, wood and thatch, and are pleasant, quiet and comfortable.

Due to the size and nature of the island, the guests who holidays at Bolifushi knows by sight quickly and the place usually gels into a friendly club. The evening meeting points are the well designed new bar and coffee shop, which is over the water and something will go-on every night. These regular events include; Bodu Beru, magic show, fire limbo, calypso band, crab race and table tennis tournaments. However, it is essentially a calm island so the partying doesn't go on too late.

As per the natural settings of the Maldives island; an island pointing in a north/south direction means there is a sunrise beach and a sunset beach. Thus, Bolifushi has a Sunrise-beach and a Sunset-beach, but neither they are long, still these beaches are fairly wide and perhaps sometimes crowded.

The reef edge could be considered as good for snorkeling and diving. And there is a small wreck gathering coral and schools of fish. Beginners should be careful of the strong currents at this western edge. The diving in the wider region is mostly concentrated in the north and east of the Atoll. The boats here, like the beaches, are never full.

Yes! Bolifushi is very good for its water sports, where the center is well stocked with new equipment. And fortunately the island has a spotless sand bank - just a pleasant catamaran or windsurf ride away.

For most of our guests, Bolifushi food is just fine and nothing much special. Breakfast could be considered as basic spread and the Lunch is set (plentiful but ordinary) and the evening meal is a buffet. The restaurant itself is a light, open-sided building, both simple and elegant.

This is a simple, straightforward island, without pretensions but with plenty of good vibes.
