Kanifinolhu is designed and built to give the visitor a taste of Maldivian village life and yet receive comfortable service. Kani’s village concept and character have been inspired by old boat houses and fishing villages in the Maldives.

The main buildings are designed and laid out in a see through fashion thus giving an unique atmosphere to making the lagoon visible through green tropical foliage surrounding the island.

Kani was established in 1978 and is constantly upgraded and refurbished. The idea behind Kani is gentle tourism, providing quality services without harming or interfering with the natural environment.

Kani’s vegetation is incomparable in the Maldives, with its large stand of old palm trees and countless varieties of plants, trees and flowers. Buildings spread around the island blend naturally with the vegetation. The main complex with restaurant, bars, reception, shops etc., is situated around a 100 years old Banyan Tree creating a unique tropical atmosphere.

Kanifinolhu has 150 rooms, divided in 3 categories; Deluxe, Superior and Standard, all set amidst the lush vegetation and only steps away from the lagoon.

DELUXE ROOMS: These rooms provide you with all comforts and are the highest category available. Deluxe rooms are available in bungalow style or in a two storey house, with inter connecting doors. Tastefully designed and well furnished these rooms each have a private balcony or terrace facing a sandy beach. The Deluxe rooms come equipped with:- Ceiling fan, Air conditioning, Telephone, Mini bar, Hair dryer, bathroom with bath or shower and hot and cold desalinated water.

RESTAURANTS

The Main Restaurant, located in the central complex, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Breakfast Buffet gives you a vast variety to select from, including; Fruit juice, Fruit and fruit salad, Yoghurts, Muesli and cereals, Pastries and a selection of breads, Eggs, freshly prepared to you choice, Beans, Ham, Potatoes, Grilled tomatoes, Traditional Maldivian breakfast

Lunch and Dinner alternate daily between a choice of set menu or as buffet, with European, Asian and Maldivian specialties.

After the meals you will be served tea or coffee free of charge.

The Coffee Shop offers you a large a-la-carte menu as well as special Theme Nights. Relish one of the chef’s specialties or just a sandwich. Whether it is pizza or lobster, a late breakfast or an afternoon tea buffet, it is all there for you.

The Coffee Shop also offers a children’s menu and special meal times for its small guests.

BARS

Kani has 4 bars, 2 of which are beach bars. Each has its own atmosphere, offering a vast range of international beverages and an extensive cocktail list.

Choose from our beverage, cocktail and wine lists. We offer a wide selection of international liquors, soft drinks, juices, shakes, coffee, tea, espresso, cappuccino and specialty coffees.

Our Beer range includes draught beers and a choice of bottled beers from Europe and Asia, which has no equals in the Maldives. You can choose from 150 cocktails, with or without liquors, sweet or dry, concoctions of our own - and in case your favorite is not among them, our barman will be more than happy to mix it for you. Our frequently altered wine selection comprises wines from France, Italy, Germany, and South Africa and will compliment your meals, not to forget our range of quality Champagnes and sparkling wines.

The Bonthi Bar is located next to the restaurant and offers you a complete beverage and liquor selection as well as our extensive cocktail list with international as well as tropical cocktails.

The Bonthi Bar is open all day from 8-00 am and, as are all our bars, until the last guest leaves, even if it is sunrise.

Happy hours as well as cocktail nights, magic shows or the traditional Bodu Beru music make up a full program and it is only a few steps to the Billiard, TV/Karaoke or Table Tennis rooms.

The Surf Bar is adjacent to our coffee shop and with its sundeck reaching into the lagoon is always buzzing during the day time as well as at night. Here you can choose from our full range of refreshments, and try one of our home made ice creams.

Make the evening a special one when a Live Band hits the stage (twice in a week), a DJ selects the latest tracks (once a week), or special offers await you during Ladies’ Night (once a week).

The Surf Bar is open from 10-00am until the last guest leaves, where these opening hours are frequently taken advantage of to sit and relax under the fabulous starry sky, watching the surf break in the full moon, or to party until the early morning.

Kani has 2 Beach Bars. One is centrally located on the main beach right next to our windsurf schools and provides an excellent view of the sun set. The other is on the northern tip of the island and provides a quieter atmosphere.

The beach bars are open all day, and also for beach parties in the evenings, and offer our full range of refreshments as well as snacks.

In your rooms you will find a mini bar. Our mini bar service is available twice a day for you to stock up the beverages of your choice.
